In 2020, hardly anything went to plan. It became clear that our line of business is well connected and people interact.
The EUHA celebrates its 60th anniversary!
In September 2020, the EUHA celebrated its 60th anniversary. On this occasion, the EUHA not only offered access to the Digital EUHA Congress free of charge, but also created a new website and a new logo.
In addition, the EUHA Executive Committee and Office staff used the time to work on a concept for the further development of the EUHA – the EUHA Community. That meant, for instance, steadily expanding social media channels and offering a new EUHA website.

The Digital EUHA Congress
After the 2020 EUHA Technical Seminars and Regional Conferences had to be cancelled due to the pandemic, the EUHA and BVHI jointly pursued the goal of organising the Digital EUHA Congress. Once the appropriate infrastructure was in place, the EUHA Office in Mainz was, without further ado, converted into a recording studio, editing room, and translation agency.
The presentations were recorded during video conference calls, with the hosts patched in. All this went to show that the EUHA is well positioned and flexible even in times of crisis.
The 2020 EUHA Sponsorship Award
The award ceremony for the eleventh EUHA Sponsorship Award was held on 7 October 2020 – its online debut. Eva Keil-Becker, who heads the EUHA Sponsorship Award jury, presented the award.
Christina Zinner was awarded first prize. In her bachelor’s thesis written at Jade University of Applied Sciences in Oldenburg, Hearing Technology and Audiology degree programme, she dealt with a “Comparison between five speech tests in speech-simulating background noise”. The Freiburg sentence test is the speech test most frequently used in German-speaking countries. For the future, Christina Zinner would appreciate a new recording of the sentence test, which dates from the 1950s. Second prize went to Simone Wollermann for her master’s thesis on the “Determination of temporal thresholds for subjective speech detection”, submitted at Lübeck University, Department of Auditory Technology. Stephan Müller wrote his master’s thesis at Lübeck University, Department of Auditory Technology. His paper on the “Evaluation of spatial sound quality in ecologically valid scenarios” was awarded third prize.
A brief preview: 2021 EUHA Spring Conference
For 20 March 2021, we have the EUHA Spring Conference planned. It will be offered in hybrid format, live in Frankfurt am Main, and online from 26 March on www.euha.tv. Moreover, the 65th International Congress of Hearing Aid Acousticians is scheduled to be held in Hanover between 15 and 17 September 2021.
This year, hardly anything went to plan. It became clear that our line of business is well connected and people interact. The Digital EUHA Congress served to show this and the congratulations on the EUHA’s anniversary have also provided a lot of positive response for our strong EUHA network.
