European Union of Hearing Aid Acousticians

We are the community that aims at bringing together hearing aid acousticians, scientists and laymen with an interest in trade-specific and economic issues.

Who we are

The EUHA is the specialist association of hearing aid acousticians. Its members endorse high trade-specific standards for their profession. Their EUHA membership testifies to their competence,  their wish to profit by further education and advanced vocational training, and their commitment. For more than 60 years, we have championed qualified care and supply for people with impaired  hearing. Founded in 1960 as the Union of Hearing Aid Acousticians (UHA), our association was renamed European Union of Hearing Aid Acousticians (EUHA) in 2004. At the beginning of 2017, the German name of the organisation changed to Europäische Union der Hörakustiker e. V., reflecting the new name of the German job title, Hörakustiker. Our members are involved in hearing protection, hearing  prevention, hearing improvement, hearing rehabilitation, and hearing research – fields in which every acoustician should remain up to scratch after completing their initial training.

What we want

The EUHA offers a networking platform for hearing aid acousticians, academics and laymen with an interest in trade-specific issues. With the aim of providing best possible care for those with  impaired hearing, the EUHA offers first-class further education and advanced vocational training, engages in development work, and in its guidelines and statements launches standards and  recommendations. As the oldest and largest association of hearing aid acousticians in Europe, the EUHA wishes to represent its members across Europe. The EUHA campaigns for responsible  professional ethos and professional honour, working together with numerous educational institutions as well as with academics and technicians. EUHA membership is a matter of course for every acoustician working to high professional standards.

    Our Aims

    The statutes of the EUHA state: "The association aims at bringing together hearing aid acousticians, scientists and laymen with an interest in trade-specific and economic issues, who want to take part in specialised further education and vocational training in order to provide the best possible care for persons with impaired hearing." That means: at all times, we would like to be the best possible partner for people with impaired hearing, supporting their rehabilitation by offering technical devices and high-quality provision of hearing aids. Further aims include the cultivation of a collective spirit, responsible professional ethos, and our members' professional honour, which is based on a particular Code of Honour.
