The EUHA sponsored the EUHA Sponsorship Award for innovative theses from young talent for the sixth time, with the jury honouring three laureates in 2015: Bastian Schulze was awarded first prize. His bachelor’s thesis deals with a comparison between the Freiburg speech intelligibility test and a revised version of the Freiburg polysyllabic test regarding intelligibility in noise (“Vergleich zwischen dem Freiburger Sprachverständlichkeitstest und einer überarbeiteten Version des Freiburger Mehrsilbertests im Bezug zur Verständlichkeit im Störgeräusch”). Melanie Krüger came second place. Her master’s thesis on the development and evaluation of an adaptive scaling method of registering subjective listening effort (“Entwicklung und Evaluation einer adaptiven Skalierungsmethode zur Ermittlung der subjektiven Höranstrengung”) means another step in determining listening effort. Third prize went to Juliane Schulz, whose bachelor’s thesis centres on modelling acoustic and electric loudness perception and efficient loudness calculation based on audiometric data (“Modellierung der akustischen und elektrischen Lautheitswahrnehmung: Effiziente Berechnung der Lautheit anhand audiometrischer Daten”).
